Sarah Ruhl’s epic play follows the making of three passion plays in three different communities in three turning points in history: the reign of Queen Elizabeth I in England, the rise of Hitler in Germany, and the 70s-90s in South Dakota. Making it’s Boston premiere, and performed by a cast of actor/musicians who scored the entire trilogy live, Passion Play examines the intersection of belief and theatre in the face of moments in our history that threaten both.

*Nominated for 4 IRNE awards, including Best Director of a Play and Best Production of a Play

“The play is unruly but the performances are game changers. The new kids on the block call themselves The Circuit Theatre Company. These young performers set the bar awfully high for the rest of Boston’s eighty or so companies…. All the performances are simply extraordinary in director Skylar Fox’s production.”
—Boston Arts Review

“Director Fox (is) deft at staging and a sensational choreographer of big productions…Director Fox and Music Director Linda Bard are visionaries.”
—Boston Area Small Press
